Arashiyama and Sagano Romantic train. Its traditional trains travel at a leisurely speed, covering the seven-kilometer distance in a span of 25 minutes and providing passengers with a lovely view of the scenery.

ToggleAfter spending several days in bustling metropolitan areas, it was a refreshing change to take the train from Kameoka Torokko Station to Torokko Arashiyama Station and witness the stunning natural scenery.
We purchased train tickets with assigned seats and actually have a better view of the scenery from both sides.
The train station was a pleasant atmosphere, with a shop offering souvenirs, a restaurant providing food, and toilets.
The train ride offers incredible views of the surrounding area, and passing by ravines and mountains was quite a pleasant experience.
You can enjoy the scenery along the Hozugawa River and the magical mountains as the train slowly pass through them.
Sitting on the left side of the train gave us better views of the mountains and the river.
As you leave the Torokko Arashiyama station, you will arrive at the breathtaking bamboo forest. The bamboos appear surreal, like something out of a movie.
The towering bamboo seemed to be watching over you like benevolent protectors. An aura of enchantment permeated the atmosphere and every picture taken was captivating.
Arashiyama bamboo forest is a beautiful place to explore, and taking a leisurely stroll through this majestic setting is an unforgettable experience.
As we strolled through an upscale neighborhood, we stumbled upon the Nonomiya Shrine, a beautifully decorated shrine in a peaceful area.
At one corner of the temple, colorful wooden ema plaques display the wishes of many devotees. Many of them ask for blessings for a blissful marriage and some seek to meet their destined loved ones.
This area is well known for its stunning views of the mountains and rivers. We took a stroll along the riverside and admired the view.
The bridge’s photogenic quality and the river views it provides are really pleasant. The bridge is an iconic landmark for the area, and visiting Arashiyama would not be complete without walking it.
There are plenty of Japanese local street snacks, cafes, and restaurants along the way.
We had a great time exploring the shops and restaurants, sampling some delicious local dishes, and even doing a bit of shopping.
Our day trip to Arashiyama and Sagano Romantic Train was a great experience. We enjoyed the stunning views of the countryside and the tranquil atmosphere. It was a great way to spend a day in Kyoto!
