Angkor Wat the Ancient Wonders of Cambodia. We woke up early on the second day at 4.30 am to witness the sunrise at Angkor Wat. We hired a Tuk-Tuk to bring us to the viewing point and walked quite a bit to get there. However, the effort was worth it as the sunrise was a breathtaking sight. The temple complex looked even more magical in the early morning light.
It was one of the most unforgettable experiences in my life from the moment I saw the temple’s serene setting, ancient sculptures and intricate design.
Before entering the temple complex, we bought a 3 day pass that came with our photo. It was incredible to think that the entire complex covering an area of over 400 acres was built without modern construction equipment.
Once inside, we spent around 5 hours exploring the temple grounds. We climbed stairs and walked a lot but the hidden beauty we discovered along the way was worth every step. The temple complex’s main temple is constructed within a moat which adds to its peaceful atmosphere.
The intricate design is a beautiful confluence of Hindu and Theravada Buddhist architecture that reflects the successive rules and cultures the country has seen.
It was quite a challenging task to climb to the top of the main temple and not suitable for those who are faint of heart. We stood in a long line for approximately 30 minutes before we could start the climb.
They have added a staircase to the front of the structure to preserve the architecture.
The climb was steep. The panoramic views of the surrounding grounds were breathtaking and we could have easily spent hours getting lost in the views up there.
While exploring the temple complex, we made sure to pay attention to the intricate details. We found the whole complex amazing and we took a moment to appreciate the serene ambiance by finding a quiet spot to sit and soak in the atmosphere for at least fifteen minutes.
The temple’s first views did not disappoint on any level and we were constantly in awe of its beauty.
This magnificent monument is a grand and impressive sight that will leave you breathless. Its monumental architecture and intricate carvings are so awe inspiring that they will surely leave you in a state of wonder.
