Discovering the Beauty of Ehwa Womans University. The first women’s institution in South Korea, Ewha University, receives a never-ending influx of visitors every day. The romantic, lovely, and oozing Korean drama ambiance of this long-lost university may have been what actually drew me here.
The architecture at Ewha Womans University is stunning in the European style. The campus is serene and lovely. I was astounded by the university’s beauty right away. The expansive grounds and lush vegetation provided a nice escape from the bustle of the city. I experienced a wonderfully refreshing sense of quiet and tranquility while I was walking through the campus.
As you move closer to the campus, you’ll observe the surrounding trees’ vibrant foliage changing colors. The striking shades of orange, yellow, and red produce a lovely ambiance.
The Ewha Campus Complex is a futuristic building designed by Dominique Perrault of France. There are many amenities available at the facility, including a café, auditoriums, and a library.
The Ewha Womans University Church, a stunning neo-gothic structure that stands tall and proud in the center of the campus, is another must-see location there. The church’s magnificent stained glass windows and lovely murals were built by French architect Emile Vaudremer.
The museum is a nice place for a stroll if you have time because the exhibits also offer English descriptions. It is a museum where you may quickly and comfortably see a good representation of Korean art.
Overall, I had a wonderful time during my visit to Ehwa Womans University. There is something for everyone to enjoy, from the magnificent architecture to the lovely gardens and rich cultural past. I definitely suggest spending a half-day exploring this amazing campus if you ever find yourself in Seoul.
Ewha Womans University, a renowned women’s university, is located in Seoul. It boasts a rich academic heritage and a brilliant reputation, particularly in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, which have helped it become well-known. Being one of Asia’s and Korea’s top universities, it consistently receives high ratings.
No, Ewha Womans University solely accepts female students because it is a women’s university. Nonetheless, a few men enroll in graduate programs at the graduate institutions linked with Ewha.
The reason Ewha Womans University has that name is because Mary F. Scranton, an American missionary, founded the institution in 1886 under the name “Ewha Haktang.” In Korean, Ewha is pronounced “Pear Blossoms,” and Haktang is pronounced, “school for higher learning.” In order to better reflect its status as a university, the name was later changed to Ewha Womans University in 1910.
Pear Blossoms is the meaning of the Korean word. Ewha which means “pear,” and “Hwa” which means “flower,” are the two terms that make up the phrase. Mary F. Scranton, the university’s founder, intended the institution to stand for the beauty and potential of Korean women, therefore she chose the name.
