Starbucks Toyama Kansui Park, Toyama City

There are several Starbucks stores in Japan that are called concept stores, which are designed with a special concept. The Starbucks in Toyama City is known for its breathtaking beauty architecture and natural surroundings.

This store was awarded the “Best Store Award” in 2008 by the Starbucks Company for its beautiful store design, selected out of all Starbucks stores worldwide. With its beautiful views, this store also enjoys popularity among visitors to Toyama City, both from locally and abroad.

The Starbucks Toyama store is located at Fugan Unga, Kansui Park, and it’s beautifully landscaped around a wide canal that flows through the center of the park.

It’s a tranquil place bursting with scenery that allows visitors to really sense the seasons through the cherry blossoms in spring, the colored leaves of autumn, and snow in winter.

We walked there and it took about 16 minutes to walk away from the north side of Toyama station. It’s a great place to chill out with a nice view of the canal and the weather was great at 6 Celsius. The walk along the canal was fine but nothing much to see.

The park’s iconic Tenmonkyo Bridge has observation towers on either end and between these towers is a 58-meter-long “red yarn phone (akai ito denwa)”. You can use this phone to speak to someone on the other side through the yarn. It’s a fun attraction for families and couples alike (not available during the winter season from December to March).

It must be a really good feeling to have your favorite Starbucks drink while you sit in this beautiful store, surrounded by nature. That should earn your extra points to evaluate this store.

What really sets this location apart is that you can enjoy feeling as if you are at the water’s edge even from inside the store. The seating area is surrounded by massive glass windows on three sides, offering views of the canal from within an open atmosphere that feels as if you were on the deck of a ship.

Whether it be while listening to the songs of the wild birds visiting the bird sanctuary during the daytime or while gazing out at the park lights at night, this is the perfect place to relax and enjoy yourself.

If you have the chance to visit Toyama, you’d definitely want to stop by this Starbucks and not any other.
