Kiyomizu-dera Temple

It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Japan and has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The temple was founded in 778 and is dedicated to the eleven-headed Kannon Bodhisattva.

The main hall has a large veranda, supported by tall pillars, that juts out over the hillside, and from there or the path below, one can observe these huge supporting pillars.

Sannenzaka Ninenzaka

Strolling through these ancient alleyways is a breathtaking and somewhat heart-rending experience.

Gazing at the juxtaposition of the past and present in stores like these is enough to make one fall head over heels for this place.
